NEPA Planning
The planning staff of Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. staff has over 80 years of combined experience with environmental planning and preparing documents in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). The level of documentation has included Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements and decision documents including Findings of No Significant Impact and Records of Determination. In addition, our firm has experience preparing and complying with state-level environmental policy act documents.
Our firm is experienced with preparing documents in accordance with NEPA, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966, Endangered Species Act of 1973, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act of 1980, and the myriad of environmental regulations relating to NEPA. In addition to regulations and policies relating to natural and cultural resources, our staff is experienced with implementing and incorporating all aspects relating to NEPA including environmental justice, community impacts, Section 6(f), and indirect and cumulative impact (ICI) assessment.
With our years of experience, we are able to develop sound, defensible Purpose and Need statements for environmental documentation. Our public outreach and scoping efforts include conducting and preparing for public open houses, Citizens Advisory Committees (CAC), and other targeted outreach efforts. Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. environmental specialists are adept at providing value to all phases of project development, from initial concept phase through construction.
Since 1994, our experienced staff has worked with various federal agencies to prepare NEPA documentation. These agencies include the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, National Park Service, Veterans Administration, Rural Utilities Service, and Federal Transit Administration among others.
Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. also has experience working with state Departments of Transportation. Although our primary focus has been on work with the Georgia Department of Transportation, our staff has been involved with environmental planning on projects in other Southeastern states including Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. In addition, we have worked with state agencies and on projects in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Aviation Projects
Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. is the acting Environmental Review Specialist for the GDOT Aviation Programs Group for over 103 non-primary NPIAS airports in the state under the FAA Block Grant Program. In accordance with the Block Grant Program, the GDOT Aviation Programs Group provides input and decisions on all environmental related issues and questions instead of the FAA.
